Bad singing role models

Today active music making is mostly replaced by passive listening. Instead of encouraging our children to sing actively, we force them to listen to vocal performances of contemporary idols, who are often rather mediocre. This does not only lead to the deterioration of good taste in music, but may lead to possible damage to the function of the voice or the vocal cords. Today's singing role models (made famous by PR campaigns and the celebrity culture) are based on chest register singing and on harsh vocal onsets. This way of singing disrupts children's voices in such a way that the ability of light voice formation, clear head resonance and heights are lost.
